Dr. Shantanu Chowdhury

Prof Chowdhury is a professor at the CSIR-Institute of Genomics and Integrative Biology in Delhi. His research interests include understanding how telomeres influence tumor-immune cell signaling, and promote immune evasion. He currently leads the Indian breast cancer genomes program, a large-scale patient tumor sequencing project in India. Fundamental work from his group on how non-duplex DNA structures impact biological mechanisms are widely used. Shantanu was awarded the Shanti Swarup Bhatnagar Award in Biological Sciences 2012, widely considered as the topmost science award in India. He is a Fellow of Indian Academies and a former Senior Fellow of the DBT/Wellcome Trust India Alliance.
